Violin by Kwang Hun Choi, New York 2025

This violin's body activates fully when played, producing a strong, full, and woody tone that beautifully reflects the quality of its materials. The instrument offers exceptional projection, making it an ideal choice for players who need their sound to carry to the back of the hall or cut through a variety of ensemble textures.

Modeled after the compact Guarneri del Gesù design, it is physically comfortable to handle and well-suited for extended playing sessions.

This instrument is featured in our La Forma del Suono Exhibition, coming in early 2026.

Kwang Hun Choi
has a strong background as a professional flutist, trained at Goyang High School of Arts and Pyeongtaek University, and formerly Principal Flutist of the Korean National Military Symphony Orchestra. His interest in instrument construction led him to study violin making at the Antonio Stradivari Institute in Cremona, Italy. Now based in New Jersey, he works as a restorer at Main Violin, where restoring historic instruments informs his own work. He combines a musician’s ear with refined craftsmanship to create violins that sound beautiful and feel comfortable to play.
