Violin by Wanna Zambelli, Cremona 2012 "Edera"
Brilliant Power for Soloists
This violin has a bright, brilliant voice with the power and projection to cut through dense textures — well suited for solo moments where presence and clarity are essential. Open and highly responsive under the bow, it delivers substantial volume with very little resistance. Despite its bright personality, it maintains a robust and grounded lower register, giving the sound a pleasing balance of clarity and depth. The tone is resonant and substantial, with a clean, focused quality that carries well in any setting. Finished in a pristine varnish, this instrument is an excellent example of modern day Cremonese luthierie.
Wanna Zambelli is a pioneer of classical violin making. She was the first Italian woman to graduate from the International School of Violin Making in Cremona, later she taught there for 44 years. She studied under Simone Fernando Sacconi in 1972 while training in Francesco Bissolotti’s workshop. In 1973, she won the "S. F. Sacconi" gold medal at the 5th Italian Biennial Competition of String Instruments. Zambelli collaborates on exhibitions and creates violins, violas, and cellos entirely by hand using the classical Cremonese method, with her instruments played by renowned musicians.
