Violin by Dongpil Im, Cremona 2022
A Guarneri del Gesu patterned violin, this instrument was crafted by the modeen Cremonese master Dongil Im. This unantiqued vioin is very characteristic of the modern Cremonese school and boasts very tidy and superb woodworking and a multifaceted golden varnish throughout. A finely figured two piece back and boxwood fittings compliment it's handsome appearance.
Dong Pil Im, born in Korea in 1979, trained in Cremona at the International Violin Making School, graduating in 2007 under Lorenzo Marchi and receiving a further degree in 2008 with Silvio Levaggi. Since 2010, he has run his studio at Via Ettore Sacchi 12 in Cremona. His work has been recognized in numerous national and international competitions, including a bronze medal (2008) and gold medal (2010) at the National Instrument Making Competition in Pisogne, and top placements in Mittenwald, Paris, and Cremona for his cellos.
