Violin by Charles E Herbrig St. Paul 1955
Charles Edward Herbrig (1884 – 1959), son of an organ and violin maker, began his studies of violin making in 1908. He emigrated to the United States and set up his workshop in 1922. Herbig has an intense focus on the neatness of his workmanship and was known to have used an old Italian process during the varnishing stage. This use of the old tradition had a great effect in the appearance of his instruments. Herbig's instruments have been well regarded for their tone by many professional players.
